Why Choose Southpaw as Your Parksville Custom Home Builder?

Southpaw Homes is a Parksville custom home builder, and our team has delivered custom homes on Central Vancouver Island since 2016. Our Net Zero Ready experience shapes each design, and we build every house to the BC Energy Step Code, so it stays comfortable and efficient through the year. We coordinate your architect, engineer, interior designer and energy advisor, so you do not have to manage them yourself.

We set your price as one contract sum before construction starts, and we list every inclusion in it. You are not relying on an estimate that may rise during the build. A fixed contract also makes financing simpler for both you and your lender. That certainty matters most when this is the house you plan to live in for many years.

What You Get When Southpaw Builds Your Home

You hire one general contractor, and our team answers to you throughout.

01

Your Lot and Budget

We walk your lot with you, ask how you will use the home, and outline a budget range and timeline before you commit to design fees.

02

Drawings and a Fixed Price

Once your designer and engineer finish the drawings, we collect competing trade bids. Those bids set your fixed price, and we quote later changes in writing.

03

Construction

Our crews work to a detailed schedule, and we check quality at each stage. Your client portal shows the daily log and progress photos at any hour.

04

Move-In and Follow-Up

At handover we explain each system and give you a digital turnover package, then return for check-ins at 30 days and at one year.

Building Your Custom Home in Parksville

We work through the City's requirements before we set your construction date.

A Complete Permit Application

The City of Parksville requires a geotechnical engineer and a BC Land Surveyor's site plan for every new home, and answers zoning questions only in person or in writing. We bring both in during design and ask the City for a written zoning answer. You avoid a late redesign, and we submit a complete application.

Protected Trees on Your Lot

The City protects mature trees, including any tree over 50 cm across, and removing one requires a permit and replacement trees. We mark them on the site plan and place the house to keep the ones you value. We show any that must come down on the permit drawings, with replacements planned.

Inspections Booked Ahead

Our team is based in Nanaimo, 37 km south on Highway 19. Inside city limits, the City issues your permit and inspects the work. Its inspectors need a full business day's notice, so we book every inspection ahead of time. That way the trades keep working instead of waiting for an inspector.

BC Housing licenses us as a residential builder, our crews work under WorkSafeBC coverage, and we carry $5M in commercial liability insurance. You can reach our founder, Jeremy Harper, directly by phone or email throughout the build.

Additions and Renovations From the Same Team
